Course overview and specification
Over the two years of the course, you will study the different functional areas of a business (marketing, finance, HR, operations) and a wider strategic overview, exploring the external factors which impact on the success of a business.
At the end of year 13, you will take 3 exam papers, each of which are 2 hours long. The papers are synoptic and can cover any area of the specification.
Paper 1:
Section A has 15 multiple choice questions (MCQs) worth 15 marks.
Section B has short answer questions worth 35 marks.
Sections C and D have two essay questions (choice of one from two and one from two) worth 25 marks each.
Paper 2:
Three data response compulsory questions worth approximately 33 marks each and made up of three/four part questions
Paper 3:
One compulsory case study followed by approximately six questions
Revision Resources
Across all three papers, you will be expected to know a variety of business models and be able to apply the models to case study scenarios. This folder includes summaries of the main models you need to know plus ideas of how you might use the models in your responses. Each model sheet also indicates which past papers it has featured in so you can tackle these questions to further consolidate your knowledge and understanding.

Exam Questions / Papers / Mark schemes
In the exam, command words are used which indicates the level of response needed i.e. whether you need to analyse or analyse and evaluate. Make sure you understand what skills each command word requires you to demonstrate using this guide.

Additional information / top tips
Manage your time effectively. On Paper 1, you may wish to consider doing the multiple choice section last to ensure you have enough time to tackle both the essays.
Make sure you write out formulas and show your workings on calculation questions.
Always relate to the case study in question – use the information and data given in your analysis.
Include evaluation within paragraphs in questions where evaluation is needed, not just as a standalone paragraph at the end.
